About me
Welcome to my blog site! My name is Michael Yuan. I am an entrepreneur, author, and software consultant based in Austin, Texas. My new startup is Ringful. We create voice mashup solutions for mobile applications and social network applications. You can check out our conference call for the iPhone, low cost international groups calls for mobile, or Facebook Voicetag applications — just to name a few beta products we have in the pipeline.
Before starting out on my own, I worked as a product manager and open source developer at the JBoss division of Red Hat Inc.
I am the author (or lead author) of 5 books on software development, as well as more than 40 articles on leading technology journals and magazines. Here are the books I wrote:
- JBoss Seam: Simplicity and Power Beyond Java EE, Prentice Hall, 2006
- Lightweight Java Web Application Development, Prentice Hall, 2006
- Nokia Smartphone Hacks, O’Reilly, 2005
- Developing Scalable Nokia Series 40 Applications, Addison-Wesley, 2004
- Enterprise J2ME: Developing Mobile Java Applications, Prentice Hall, 2003
Besides software, my passions are traveling, photography, and astronomy. Actually, I love astronomy so much that I got myself a Ph.D. degree in Astrophysics from the University of Texas at Austin.
